Crisis Prevention and Assistance Program

We assist our community with completion of applications, finding jobs, completing financial aid forms for hospitals, navigating the unemployment system, translations, telephone interpreting, and making referrals to other agencies.

Employment
El Centro provides many resources to individuals currently undergoing the job search process. We are able to assist with resume writing and completion of job applications. Additionally, we can help clients file unemployment applications both in Nebraska and in other states.

Translation
El Centro can provide interpretation services over the phone and on-site. Translation of legal documents – including Birth Certificates, Divorce Certificates, Certificates of Death, etc. – is provided at El Centro as well. The cost for translation of legal documents varies, starting at $15.

Emergency Food Pantry
An emergency food pantry is held at El Centro on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. Families may receive food from this pantry once per week, up to two times per month.

Family Support Program
The purpose of this program is to help families in crisis using culturally-sensitive support methods, aimed at persons who have been victims of a violent act. This program offers support in a safe and confidential environment.

Referral Services
If you are looking for services that El Centro may not provide, we can assist you in finding the right organization. If you are looking for free or low cost access to food, legal assistance, immigration assistance, diapers, clothing, or health programs, our staff can refer you to proper community resources.

Additional Resources
El Centro staff can assist with the completion of applications including:
  • Financial Assistance
  • Medicaid
  • Food stamps (SNAP)
  • Utility Assistance Program
  • Aid to Dependent Children (ADC)\

Additionally, El Centro can offer general services, including:
  • Bus passes
  • Information about taxes
  • Notary Services
